RIM Mail Connector - withdrawn from existing users without prior notice

Customers using the Mail Connector feature on their BlackBerry^RInternet Solution (BIS) will no longer ba able to send or receive emails.

Mail Connector is a BlackBerry Internet Solution (BIS) feature that allows customers to connect devices to their Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino email server.

RIM is providing online and telephone support to both customers and Partners to discuss the different options available and then re-configure the customer's service to re-start their email.

Yorkshire-based Avant UK, a leading provider of telecommunications services, has re-vamped its image and introduced a branded mobile insurance package for its growing national customer base of telecoms partners and corporate end-users.

With over six years trading experience and a customer service record that is second-to-none, Avant UK, formerly the Leeds Telecom Centre, offers competitively priced telephony solutions, specialising in mobile fleet management and related services.

Managing director Marc Thompson credits Avant's success to its proactive approach to delivering added-value services in a booming, but crowded marketplace.

"We provide telephony solutions which cut through complex new technologies to deliver real business benefits. The new Avant mobile insurance package is the latest in a line of initiatives to provide cost-effective services designed to help companies keep up with and apply new products and services."

The package offers the same level of cover as other leading companies' deals, but at a much lower price.

"According to statistics, over 15,000 mobile phones are lost or stolen every month so it's a very real problem. Our new package is designed to give customers peace of mind at a competitive price and we're confident that people will be impressed by the cover and our customer service," said Thompson.

Avant has an unrivalled reputation for first class customer service. The company's "churn rate" (ie the number of customers moving to other providers) is less than four per cent, compared to a national average of over 32 per cent.

Commenting on the decision to re-brand the company, Marc said: "Our name and image in general no longer reflected the business and our nationwide customer base, so I knew the time was right to make the change. The new look is much more representative of the dynamic nature of Avant and the telecoms industry in general," he explained.

Marc was faced with a real chicken-and-egg dilemma when considering a wide range of possible new names and logos, but finally settled on the blue, turquoise and white logo.

"The logo we have adopted was an easy choice, but I didn't have a name in mind. By happy coincidence, the car I drive is an Audi Avant so I thought that would do nicely!

"After we'd made the choice, I found out that Avant means 'those whose ideas or techniques are in advance', so it's particularly appropriate as it turns out! The image overhaul has given us a new lease of life and our customers have responded well to the change. We are entering a new era for Avant and it's an exciting time for both us and our customers," says Marc.
